~Dancing~
Why can't women come with instruction manuals? I'll tell you why; it takes the mystery out of them. And on the dance floor, that mystery often provides a pleasant surprise. At the moment, I had in my arms a lady who had originally demurred a dance. I'd worked on her off and on all night because I'd seen her dance previously, though I didn't expect to get anywhere tonight. But she surprised me and said yes with a half hour till when I'd planned to leave.
And her in my arms? Was like a little slice of heaven. She moved like molasses: sweet and slow. I love dancing, the give-and-take harmony of it. Dancing's all about promises and anticipation, but you can still leave satisfied even if the promise never goes beyond the floor. Without mystery, dancing with a woman's about as much fun as dancing with the hat stand. No promises, no anticipation, no thrill from being able to read your partner. So, personally, I'm glad women don't come with instruction manuals; we'd be losing something if they did. And, seeing as how I had Lily Rowan in my arms for the first time, that'd be a real shame.
